History

The Department of Preschool Education was established in 2004 and in the 2005-2006 academic year, the first students were educated in order to train pre-school teachers. The Preschool Education Program aims to provide neccessary knowledge and skills to prospective teachers who will work with 0- 6 ages children. The teaching staff consists of 2 professors, 2 associate professor, 1 assistant professors and 3 research assistants.

Preschool Education Department members, who work in our areas of expertise are Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Family Education, Visual Perception, Early Childhood Mathematics Education, Cognitive Functions, Dynamic Assessment and STEAM Education.

429 students graduated from the Department of Preschool Education between 2006 and 2017 and 80 students graduated in 2018.

Since 2011, master program with thesis has been conducted in the Department of Preschool Education. Students who graduated from the Department of Preschool Education have the opportunity to work as a specialist in Ministry of National Education, Private Schools and Public Schools, Special Education and Rehabilitation Centers, Municipalities - Family Life Centers, Academic Staffs in the University, Preparation of Children's Publications, toy design.

The Department of Primary School Education educates teachers who can carry out education and training activities in the first stage of primary schools in a qualified way. The Department of Primary School Education offers 4-year undergraduate education. The main objective of the undergraduate program is, to gain the basic knowledge and skills related to the fields and teaching formation of the Primary School Teacher candidates who will work in primary school education. The teaching staff consists of 1 associate professor, 5 assistant professor and 1 research assistants. 5848 students graduated from the Department of Primary School Education between 1992 and 2017 and 114 students graduated in 2018. Students who graduated from the Department of Primary School Education have the opportunity to work as a teacher in Ministry of National Education, Private Schools and Public Schools.
